A Morning Rush to Afternoon Relief – Life of an HVAC Service Tech

5:30 AM – Rise and Shine

The day begins early at Bruton Comfort Control, where I check my morning forecast while gulping down my coffee. Today’s route includes several stops throughout Beaverton and Tigard, and with summer approaching, I know it’s going to be a busy one.

7:00 AM – First Call

My first stop is in western Beaverton, where a family’s air conditioning unit has been making unusual noises. After a thorough inspection, I discover their condensing unit needs cleaning and minor repairs. These preventative maintenance calls are crucial for avoiding major breakdowns during peak seasons.

10:30 AM – Emergency Service

Between scheduled appointments, dispatch calls about an urgent situation in Tualatin. An elderly resident’s heating system has completely shut down. These are the moments that remind me why I love this job – being able to restore comfort to someone’s home when they need it most.

What’s typically in my service van:

  • Digital diagnostic tools
  • Common replacement parts
  • Various hand tools
  • Safety equipment
  • Testing instruments

2:00 PM – Maintenance Education

One of my favorite parts of the job is educating homeowners about their HVAC systems. During a routine maintenance call in Hillsboro, I spend extra time showing a new homeowner how to properly change their air filters and recognize early warning signs of system issues.

4:30 PM – Wrapping Up

As I complete my final service call in Aloha, I reflect on another fulfilling day of helping our community stay comfortable. After updating all my service records and preparing for tomorrow’s appointments, I head back to headquarters, knowing that another day of keeping Oregon homes comfortable awaits tomorrow.

The rewarding feeling of providing essential comfort solutions to our local communities makes every early morning worth it. Whether it’s the height of summer or depth of winter, we’re always ready to respond to our neighbors’ HVAC needs throughout the Portland metro area.
